Redmax trimmer vs stihl1/21/2024 The FS250R does serve's as our "everyday weedeater's, and does not require going back to the trailer to get something larger in the thick or lush grass, or for right or way trimming either. At 13.0 lbs it might be heavy, but a FS140 4-Mix unit is right their at 12.3 lbs in weight too. Nothing equals the FS250R at 40.2CC & 13.0 lbs in the same class "heavy duty" line trimmers.įor me the FS250R is highly productive & bulletproof, and for that worth the money at $499 out the door and you will never be lacking power/torque. In defense of Stihl i have went through or "wore out" Shindy & Red-Max line trimmer's quickly too. I remove all my trimmer head guards, and run extend line out, the FS250R swings the extra line with ease. if you leave the guards on the FS130 will do fine. The 4-mix FS130's are not their yet in the power & torque vs a "true" 2-stroke, per (engine CC) in the same class, overall 4-mix reliability is still an issue for me. Funny thing I have all these extra attachments from old FS90's & FS130 4-mix power heads around, that have blown up or broke down over the years. you can't count on it being there around here and I really like to stay consistant on 2 cycle oil.I have been using all the Stihl head attachments with all my FS250R's with ZERO issues for some three years. ![]() It's bad enough with motor oils, but the 2 cycle oils and grease, ect. ![]() It was a disaster when Katrina hit and it has never really gotten completely straightened out. but when it comes to keeping lubricants/oils/greases in stock they are friggin wishy-washy. But I don't know what the deal is here anymore with all the area walmarts. I'm eager to see how I like this synthetic.Īnyways. I said "well heck it's getting cold anyways" so they are still technically on the Super Tech diet. But I was honestly going to switch back to Havoline because it is easier for me, and the stuff is loaded with moly.īut when I got to WalMart and saw the very small price difference to get the SuperTech 10w30 full sythetic. I was running the 10w30 dino in the engines and the 20w50 dino in the hydros. since talking to you guys, my mowers have been on the Super Tech diet. Many of Redmax equipment is assembled in Husky/Redmax Georiga plant. Also Redmax uses Zenoah engines whereas Husky does not. I drained the remainder back out of the tank though.Ĭlick to expand.Yeah. Redmax uses Strato-Charged technology which incorporates the needed Phase 2 EPA clean guidelines without having to incorporate a catalytic converter. I almost added another pack of oil to make it 50:1. It did fine but I was nervous about the 100:1 ratio. So I gave the 8001 a 'splash' of BP93/Amsoil just to finish a couple minutes work. Sure enough I had a pinch right before dark. I got a handfull of the 1.5 oz packages and mixed just one gallon for use in a pinch. So I stopped at NAPA on my way to the next account because I knew they had that Amsoil Sabre stuff. Today I ran out of the RedMax oil and didn't have time to go get more. I’ll admit it I’m one of the people who would love to see all small lawn & garden gas engines disappear. I also talk about the new EGO carbon fiber shaft trimmer. The Toro Power Plex, Stihl FSA 90 R, Troy-Bilt C.O.R.E., DeWalt Flex-Volt. So I bought RedMax oil for them and other than that, I've ran nothing else other than a "splash" of BP93/Opti-2 in my trimmer. This article is a review of four of the best cordless string trimmers available right now. I don't know a thing about these strato-charged engines. What have you found to be RedMax's preferred mixed drink?īeen real pleased with that and haven't found a sweeter mix for them. ![]() I just wanted to ask all you RedMax guru's on here.
